your yoga community
our shared Mission
FSY is not just a studio, it’s a yoga community. Our shared mission is to create space for one another to explore and expand, both on and off our mats. We believe in the power of community and in yoga as a catalyst for change.
In Sanskrit, "tapas" (तपस्) generally means "heat," "fire," or "warmth," but it also signifies self-discipline or effort used to achieve spiritual power or purification. As such, tapas is a central tenet of our community. Most of our classes are held in heated environment with threefold benefit: 1) to make the tissues supple for practice, 2) to facilitate detoxification through sweat, and 3) to challenge the mind. So join us, and ignite change in your practice and your life!
All are welcome and celebrated!
the Space
The Fire Station is located in Astoria, Oregon just a block away from the Columbia River. Standing proudly along Marine Drive, we practice on the third level of the Clatsop County Historical Society Uppertown Firefighters’ Museum. Classes are heated to 90 - 95F.
THE STYLE
Your Fire Station Yoga instructors have a wide range of experience, and a breadth of personal practice to help you find your path. While formally trained in Baptiste, Power Vinyasa, Hatha Yoga, and Vishoka Meditation, our styles are approachable, inclusive, and flexible. We welcome all levels of experience, and guide our practices in a style that combines and highlights the best of our instruction with the greatest benefits to our community.
